Mechanical Joint
Mechanical Joint is recommended for any water or other fluid service using ductile iron pipe, particularly where many connections are required. Parts are interchangeable.
The plain end of Mechanical Joint pipe has the same outside diameter as TYTON JOINT pipe, or other push-on pipe. As a result, it can be fitted into such joints in the field merely by beveling the plain end.
GLAND
Ductile iron, produced in accordance with ANSIIAWWA Cl 1 lIA21.1
GASKET
Made of SBR rubber to close tolerance specifications under tight, rigid
quality control Furnished in sufficient quantity to provide one for each
bell opening. Also available are armored-tip gaskets to provide for electrical
conductivity in water pipe. Other specialized gaskets can be provided upon
request.
Bolts
High-strength CORTEN® T-head bolts and hexnuts having a minimum
yield strength of 45,000 psi. Corrosion-resistant, they will support the
joint for the life of the installation.
